Technical requirements of ASME SA514 GR.A Normalized Pressure Vessel Steel plate material
Release time:
2023-03-06
The following is a brief introduction to ASME SA514 GR.A Normalized Pressure Vessel Steel plate material. Smelting method: Steel plates for pressure components of pressure vessels shall be killed steel smelted in oxygen converters or electric furnaces. For low-alloy steel plates and austenitic-ferritic stainless steel plates with a lower limit of standard tensile strength greater than 540MPa, as well as low-temperature steel plates for design temperatures lower than -20°C, an out-of-furnace refining process should also be used.

chemical composition:
For carbon steel and low alloy steel plates used for welding, C≤0.25%, P≤0.035%, S≤0.035%.
The chemical composition of carbon steel and low alloy steel plates in special steel for pressure vessels is as follows:
1) For steel with standard tensile strength lower limit ≤540MPa, P≤0.030%, S≤0.020%;
2) For steel with a lower limit of standard tensile strength >540MPa, P≤0.025%, S≤0.015%;
3) For steel with design temperature below -20°C and standard tensile strength lower limit ≤540MPa, P≤0.025%, S≤0.012%;
4) For steel with design temperature lower than -20°C and lower limit of standard tensile strength > 540MPa, P≤0.020%, S≤0.010%.
